A 21 year old Murfreesboro man has been charged with six counts of burglary to an auto. Chase Stockton was apprehended after police received a call about two subjects being seen in a dark colored SUV allegedly trying to get into parked cars. The situation unfolded on Conquer Drive in Murfreesboro.
Inside the SUV, police observed numerous items that looked to have been stolen from other vehicles. Officers then made contact with the registered owner of the vehicle, which turned out to be a grandmother who let her grandson drive the Ford.
Later that same night, officers made contact with Stockton at his home. When talking to the 21 year old, he refused to admit any involvement in car burglaries. Regardless, police found the suspects wallet in the parked SUV and confirmed that six cars had been broken into.
Stockton will be able to tell the judge what occurred or what did not occur when he appears in court on January 8, 2017. He may also be asked to explain why police saw someone who looked like him exit and walk away from the SUV as they pulled up. The question of who may have been with him could also arise in court.
The young man is currently free after posting a bond of $29,500.
