More and more overdoses have been reported in Murfreesboro over the past 4 days.

In one of the cases, police were dispatched to the 700 block of Riviera Drive after receiving a call about a man passed out in a bathroom. Paramedics and police arrived and trained personnel revived the 25 year old man with NARCAN.

Some may ask what exactly this miracle drug is that saved about five to ten lives in Rutherford County this past weekend. NARCAN is a prescription drug that is administered to those who overdose on opioids. The drug blocks the effects of the opioids almost instantly allowing the person who overdosed a chance to live.

In the Riviera Drive case, two children were at home when the overdose happened. The Department of Children Services were notified due to the children being in the home.
