The 2018 Status of Suicide in Tennessee report has been released and statistics show that in the past six years, traffic accident deaths rank lower than the number of deaths caused by suicide.

Other information from the report shows that suicide rates for white non-Hispanics in Tennessee are generally at least three times higher than other ethnic groups.

Suicide rates for males are generally at least three four times higher than for females in Tennessee, a trend replicated within each racial group.

Generally the number of suicides and the suicide rate in Tennessee increase with age through the 45-54 age group, then level off before spiking again after age 75.
