Reports of feeling the earth shake around 10:00 o'clock Saturday (3/31/2018) evening have been reported by several persons in Rutherford County. Confirmations from Murfreesboro, Walter Hill, and Milton have been documented, however the cause has not been established.
Last September, similar reports of an explosion and feeling the ground move were reported.
The best answer to that incident was what scientists describe as plate tectonics. Large geographic areas are connected with rocks that are below the earth's surface. When something causes sudden movement in one area, like an explosion, it is often felt in distant areas through plate tectonics.
Well, no one would question the fact that this area indeed is connected with layers of rocks.
NewsRadio WGNS is gathering information on this phenomena. If you felt the earth move Saturday night, please e-mail the radio station any information you have. Mainly, what part of the community you were in when this sensation occured and what was the time. Also, describe the sound you felt. Send it to news@wgnsradio.com.
