Murfreesboro Police spokeswoman Officer Amy Norville reports the accident happened just before 8:30 Thursday night.

She says the crash involved a 2012 Ford Mustang and a 2008 Suzuki motorcycle.

The investigation revealed the motorcycle, driven by Elder, was traveling west on Middle Tennessee Blvd while the Mustang was traveling east and attempted to turn left onto Lascassas Highway, colliding with the motorcycle.

Elder was treated on the scene by Murfreesboro Fire Rescue Department and transported by Rutherford County Emergency Medical Services to St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital. He was then flown to Vanderbilt University Medical Center by LifeFlight. He was pronounced deceased at Vanderbilt a short time later.

There have been no charges filed at this time, but the accident is under investigation.
