Main Street Creates Memories On The Square

Aug 03, 2018 at 10:49 pm by Bryan Barrett

(Murfreesboro) Mainstreet Murfreesboro and the Downtown Murfreesboro Business Association entertained thousands with Friday Night Live, an evening of free music and family fun on the historic square. This event happens on the first Friday of each month during the summer months.

A gentle breeze, temps in the 70s, and a field of lawn chairs spread across the entire east side of the square as on-lookers visited friends and listened to the beautiful harmonies of The O'Donnels and their band.

City Councilman and downtown business owner Bill Shacklett captured the mood . . .

He noted how the historic downtown district is alive night and day. The square is packed from 8:00AM to noon Saturday mornings with fresh produce, baked goods, flowers, cheese, honey, meats and more as Main Street's Saturday Marketplace brings vendors around the square. And then next from 6:00 to 9:00PM next Friday night, August 10th, local artisans will be displaying their paintings, pottery, sculpture and more in area businesses with the 'Boro Art Crawl.

A special thank you to Kathleen Herzog, the staff at Main Street Murfreesboro and the downtown merchants for helping to create these great memories.
