Major Joe Irvin of the Salvation Army of Rutherford and Cannon County is among the Hurricane Florence relief workers lending aid.
Irvin has joined other Salvation Army officers in disaster relief in Kinston, North Carolina. He reports roads have been washed away, making it difficult to reach particular areas. They're providing hot meals and drinks from their mobile kitchen to locals there.
There's a large population of migrant farm workers in the town as well, making their work in Kinston even more important. Otherwise, they would be without food while flooding continues in the town.
Irvin was deployed to Houston last year for several weeks in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey.
