Annual Read To Succeed Celebrity Spelling Bee

Nov 01, 2018 at 09:18 pm by Bryan Barrett

Read To Succeed will hold the 2018 Celebrity Spelling Bee Thursday, Nov. 8 at The Grove at Williamson Place. The doors will open at 5:30 for dinner and drinks while the program is set to get underway at 6:30PM.

This year, food trucks will be providing dinner for guest at the annual fundraiser. Adult beverages will also be served at their cash bar Thursday evening.

As the only fundraiser for Read To Succeed, the night's success is important to the success of the nonprofit. Thousands of adults in Rutherford County struggle to read and the non profit tells WGNS that a donation of as little as $5 can pay for an hour of literacy tutoring for an adult in need.

While the spellers maybe trying to avoid humiliation, most are in it to win combined with a few laughs.

The celebrity spellers will take the stage at 6:30 p.m., following the announcement of the One Book, community read selection. After the One Book selection is revealed, the book will be available for purchase.

Last year, community support was so great the event sold out. Seating is limited again this year. For tickets or to sponsor, call 615-738-READ.
