Dec 18, 2018 at 11:15 pm by Bryan Barrett

A Murfreesboro woman arrested for aggravated child neglect for not reportedly feeding her three month old child properly has been convicted in a Rutherford County Courtroom.

Rachel Henley, who was arrested in 2014 at the age of 22, was convicted and sentenced to ten years in prison this past week, four years after her initial arrest.

MPD Detective Tommy Roberts reported that the baby belonging to the Journey Drive woman was the size of a two week old as opposed to the size of a three month old. The information was confirmed in the original police report by Vanderbilt Children's Hospital and the Department of Children's Services.

The report stated, "Based on the evidence we gathered during the investigation, we felt that (the baby) was the victim of nutritional and medical neglect and would have died had he not been brought into care."

On December 14, 2018, Henley now 27, was found guilty of Aggravated Child Endangerment and sentenced to ten years in prison. WGNS has learned that the sentence was Suspended and she will be under probation for that ten year period.

Reportedly, the child has improved greatly since originally being removed from the woman.
