Potential 'Boro Traffic Problems Now - January 7th

City Traffic Engineer Ram Balachandran has made a resolution to keep motorists even better informed on potential road issues. To prove it, here's his areas to avoid between now and January 7th. 

City Construction Projects

Maney Avenue Street Improvement Project (between SE Broad Street and College Street)

Expected Road Closures: Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 4:00 PM: Road construction work continues along Maney Avenue between E Castle St and E Vine Street. Access drives to the local residents and businesses will be kept open at all times.Motorists are advised to use Highland Ave and Academy Street travelling north/south and State Street and Main Street travelling east/west. Work continues, minor traffic interruptions.

Veterans Pkwy (New section between Barfield Road/Kimbro Road and Barfield Crescent Road)

Expected Lane Closures: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM: The traffic on Barfield Crescent Road has been shifted to the south side near Lone Oak Drive. Appropriate lane shiftsigns and pavements markings are in-place. Contractor has started road work on the north side. The construction of the bridge over Stones River continues.Work continues, minor traffic interruptions.

MTSU Phase 3 Project (Intersection of Greenland Drive at Wiles Ct)

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 2:00 PM: There will be minor lane closures on Greenland Drive at Wiles Court. Traffic signal and roadway work continues intermittently at the intersection.There will be minor traffic interruptions.Work continues, minor traffic interruptions.

Atmos Project (Vine Street between University Ave and Maney Ave)

Expected Lane Closures: Monday - Friday, 9 AM to 3:00 PM: The contractor for Atmos will be installing gas lines along Vine Street between University Ave and Academy St. There will be partial lane closures and traffic interruptions on Vine Street.

Traffic Signal Work (Intersection of New Salem Highway and Veterans Pkwy)

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 4:00 PM: Traffic signal installing work continues intermittently at this location. There will be minor traffic interruptions and partial lane closures. Appropriate traffic controls will be in-place.

Traffic Signal Work (Intersection of Rutherford Blvd and Gold Valley Drive) 

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 4:00 PM: Traffic signal installing work continues intermittently at this location. There will be minor traffic interruptions and partial lane closures. Appropriate traffic controls will be in-place.

TDOT Intersection Improvement Project (Medical Center Pkwy between I-24 EB Off-Ramp and Asbury Lane)

Expected LaneClosures: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM: The contractor for TDOT will be making on-ramp improvements and striping modifications on Medical Center Pkwy between I-24 EB Ramp and Asbury Lane. There will be alternate lane closures and traffic interruptions. One lane will remain open in each direction at all times.

Consolidated Utility District (CUD) Water Line Construction Project (County Farm Road between S Church Street and Annell Drive)

Expected LaneClosures: Tuesday, Thursday & Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM: The contractor for CUD will be installing water lines and steel casing pipes across County Farm Road between S Church Street and Annell Drive. This section of roadway will be closed between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm. Traffic to and from County Farm Road and S Church Street will be detoured onto Parsons Street, Titans Cir, Haynnis Dr and Savannah Ridge Drive. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

City Drainage Work (Underpass at West College and CSX RR)

Expected LaneClosures: Wednesday, 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM: City crews will be performing inspection and drainage maintenance work at the underpass at W College and CSX RR. The underpass will be closed between 7:30 am and 3:30 pm. All northbound traffic on W College will be detoured onto Brinkley Road and southbound traffic onto Garrison Drive. Access to local residents and businesses will be kept open at all times. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.
