New Laws for 2012

Jan 02, 2012 at 06:05 am by Bryan Barrett

There are new laws on the book, now that 2012 is here. One of the most publicized new laws requires voters to show a photo ID before they cast a ballot. Some are against the law, suggesting that it may make it harder for minorities and seniors to vote. One of the groups against the law is the ACLU. They say they will fight it if Democrats are unsuccessful in overturning the law during the 2012 legislative session. Other new laws will force a convicted child rapist to be sentenced a minimum of 25-years behind bars. Another new law is aimed at fighting the war on METH. Now, when you buy cold medicine containing pseudoephedrine, your purchase will be tracked in a new computer database. Employers must also adhere to new laws. One such law is the E-verify law. A free computer system that helps to verify the employment eligibility of new hires.
