MURFREESBORO - Tim Keach, CEO of TDK, announced today they will hold a grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony of TDK Aviation at 4:00 p.m. tomorrow, June 5. The facility, located at 134 Dejarnette Lane, is built at the northern portion of the airport behind Starplex. During the ceremony, TDK will showcase the facility's 16,427 sq. ft. hangar as well as the 6,131 sq. ft. office space that includes five offices and a conference room available for rent for those leasing hangar space.

"TDK is a privately-held construction and development company that builds and develops multifamily and senior housing projects throughout the Southeast and Southwest. Having this hangar gives us the opportunity to operate from the Murfreesboro airport, flying our project managers to multiple job sites and still having them home at night to be with their families," Keach said.

TDK reached an agreement with the City of Murfreesboro for a 30-year land lease for the hangar site. TDK agreed to provide the $3.5 million hangar, extend a water line for future expansion and extend the taxiway adjacent to the property. These improvements made by TDK to the airport infrastructure have already created interest for further development at the airport.

One of the hangar residents is Vanderbilt LifeFlight 5 which occupies 3,016 sq. ft. that includes room for their helicopter and living space for the pilot and two crew members. "Our community is fortunate to have Vanderbilt LifeFlight 5 based at the Murfreesboro airport. They were considering leaving the community because their crew was staying in trailers at the airport. Having LifeFlight 5 remain in our community to serve our residents is important, and I am glad we could work it out," Keach continued.

TDK Aviation will provide aircraft parking, aircraft rental services, and similar services.

"Aviation plays a considerable role in Rutherford County's economic development. As we continue to become one of the hottest places to do business, regional airports that are equipped to handle that growth are vital to attracting new companies. The addition of the new hangar at Murfreesboro Airport, TDK Aviation, is a great amenity for us as we actively market our area to recruit new industry," Paul Latture, President of the Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce, said.
