Man Charged with 4th DUI

A Shelbyville man has been arrested in Murfreesboro and charged with his 4th DUI. Joseph C. Blevins was pulled over on Broad Street after nearly striking the guardrail of a bridge near the Stones River Country Club. If a citizen in Tennessee receives 4-DUI’s, the 4th DUI is considered a class E felony and is punishable by up to two years in the state penitentiary. What is ironic is that a 4th DUI counts against a suspect the same way as a 5th DUI or even a 10th DUI would count against an individual. In other words, a class E felony is where the punishment stops. In other words, a person who received 10-DUI’s could be sentenced the same as a person who received 4-DUI’s. Blevins is scheduled to appear in court on March 13th.
