Eagleville Teacher Sent to Smaller School after Inappropriate Touching Allegations

Jul 08, 2019 at 03:23 pm by Bryan Barrett

Earlier this year in May, an Eagleville High School coach was accused of inappropriately touching a student. The incident was caught on a cell phone video recorded by another student.

Travis Holland coaches baseball at the school and is also a history teacher. Evidently, an investigation into Holland shows that this was not his first time to touch or to allow for a student to touch him in a manner that could be viewed as inappropriate.

The investigation into the teacher showed that he would routinely rub the backs of students.

Holland was sent to finish out his teaching year at Holloway High School and barred from coaching in the district. The teacher and coach was hired by the Rutherford County Schools in 2005.

The investigation into Holland involved 12 teachers and 7 students. Of that number, at least one teacher talked about how Holland's actions concerned them. Another coach also mentioned Holland's actions to a law enforcement officer. A parent reported that Holland would talk to his students on SnapChat, a social media account often used by teens.

The former baseball coach was also placed on a ten-day suspension without pay.

Eagleville is now reviewing their code of ethics.
