Middle Tennessee Electric is adding something new to the Rutherford County area. MTEMC President Chris Jones said that former Governor Bill Haslam worked to change state law to allow for the utility provider to provide better access to internet coverage in rural areas.



Jones said the effort to provide internet to rural areas is a similar to the same effort to provide electricity to small towns in the 1920's and 30's.
