Rape Reported in Murfreesboro

Jul 17, 2019 at 01:47 pm by Bryan Barrett

Reports from the National Sexual Assault center indicate that 39% of all rapes are committed by an acquaintance, a number that holds true in Tennessee and around the country.

In Murfreesboro, one such rape was reported on July 10, 2019 by a woman who told police her attacker was someone she has known for at least 6 years.

The report filed with the MPD shows that the victim, who is in her mid-twenties, went for a night out on the town in Nashville. When she returned, she went with friends to the apartment of and acquaintance. Once there, a 26 year old man whom the victim has known for a minimum of six years started to force himself on her, despite her saying no. Prior to the situation unfolding, the woman told officers that she has never dated the suspect.

Two days after the incident, she reported the alleged rape to police. The case is now under investigation. No arrests have been made as of Wednesday, July 17, 2019.
