State Representative Mike Sparks' (R-Smyrna) son, Preston, was a member of Vanderbilt University's first coding boot camp graduates. The innovative boot camp is giving Middle Tennesseans an opportunity to learn a growing and valuable skill that could potentially lead to a job in the tech industry.

The 24-week computer coding camp is an innovative partnership between Vanderbilt University and Trilogy Education Services. According to Vanderbilt University, students learned front-end and back-end technologies, such as HTML5 and JavaScript, while also benefiting from a wide set of career services like resume support and technical interview preparation.

"I'm excited to see Preston and these other students graduate and want to thank Vanderbilt for providing this educational opportunity here in Middle Tennessee,"' said Representative Sparks.

The skills-based training program is designed for web developers, data analysts, and cybersecurity professionals. Learn more about Vanderbilt University's coding boot camp here: https://bootcamps.vanderbilt.edu/coding/
