Rutherford County government warns businesses not to cash checks from the County Landfill. County Trustee Teb Baty issued a FRAUD ALERT saying, "An individual is attempting to cash fraudulent checks that appear to be issued by the Rutherford County Landfill. DO NOT CASH as these checks are falsified and are not drawn on any Rutherford County Accounts."

In fact, WGNS News has learned that this is an active criminal investigation by the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office.
