Kathy Ferrell is the new public information officer with the Town of Smyrna.

Prior to accepting this new position, Ferrell served as the executive director of the Heart of Tennessee Chapter of the American Red Cross.

Ferrell said, "It has been my privilege to serve the seventeen counties that compose the Heart of Tennessee Chapter over the past two years. My new role will allow me to focus on one community, to travel less, and be more of a presence for my family."

In leaving the Red Cross, she noted, "This mission is important to me and I will continue to serve Red Cross in a volunteer capacity on the Community Outreach Committee. I look forward to the opportunity to continue to tell the Red Cross story and advocate for this work."
