Allegedly Shoplifting Baby Items

Oct 24, 2019 at 12:07 pm by Bryan Barrett

MURFREESBORO - It was a case of stolen baby stuff... At Walmart on Joe B. Jackson Parkway a couple was seen by the loss prevention worker in the baby aisle allegedly stuffing items into a purse. The store employee watched the couple as they left the baby section and head to the checkout. Once at the checkout, the two reportedly paid for a few items, never purchasing the merchandise in the purse.

As the loss prevention worker approached the duo near the exit he asked them to stop, which they did momentarily.

The store was able to recover the stolen goods, but the man and the woman quickly headed to their car after the discussion.

The good news is that the loss prevention worker recognized the two and one had been previously trespassed from Walmart. The bad news is that the two got away before police arrived.

Shoplifting is much more expensive than one might imagine. Money.com reports that shoplifting and employee thefts cost retailers over $50 billion annually.

MORE SHOPLIFTING:

In an unrelated story, police responded to another shoplifting call at TJ Maxx next to Target. There, four subjects entered the store and evidently began concealing items. Two males and two females were accused of filling up a duffel bag and a laundry basket with merchandise.

Officers halted all four before they were able to hit the road. The men and women were escorted to loss prevention office in the store for questioning.

A Murfreesboro Police Report shows that the four suspects admitted to stealing the goods to later resale them at a later date. Charges were filed against the four and they are not allowed to return to TJ Maxx on Old Fort Parkway.

A third case routed police to Walmart on Old Fort Parkway. Once there, it was discovered that a woman had taken the price tags off of shoes and sunglasses. She then put the items on as if they were hers. However, the shoes and sunglasses belonged to Walmart.
