The Middle Tennessee Medical Center cancer center opened on Wednesday during a Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting ceremony. The previous cancer center was across the street from the old hospital on Bell Street. The new cancer center is inside the Seton Medical Office building next to the new hospital on Medical Center Parkway. The new facility has a new large bore Philips CT scanner that allows imaging for every size patient. The center also has new linear accelerators that can deliver radiation to eliminate a tumor while minimizing the amount of healthy tissue exposed to the radiation.
