Alcohol is a growing problem on university campuses across the state of Tennessee. In Murfreesboro, 11-students on the MTSU campus were cited with consuming alcohol while under the age of 21 during the month of January. Four other adults over the age of 21 were also cited for public intoxication. Of the 25 accused of being intoxicated on the campus, 1-had to be transported to the hospital with alcohol poising. She was referred to MTSU Judicial Affairs. In December, 6-students were cited with underage consumption and 1-25-year old was charged with public intoxication.

Marijuana also appears to be a growing concern for university officials. Last month at MTSU, six people were cited for unlawful possession of marijuana. Of the six cited with simple possession of marijuana charges, four were 19-years of age, one was 24 and the sixth was a juvenile.
