A newly proposed bill in Tennessee would actually limit the number of retail liquor stores in a community. House Bill 2988 (Senate Bill 3121) would allow for cities and counties to limit the number of liquor stores to one per every 6,000 residents. If the bill passes and those numbers hold true, then the City of Murfreesboro could be home to up to 18-maximum liquor stores. Right now, Murfreesboro is home to 11-liquor stores. The proposal has been pushed to the State and Local Government Committee for review.
