WATER DEPARTMENT (Rutherford County): Because of COVID-19 (coronavirus), the community and nation face a unique challenge. To counteract the virus and to protect ratepayers, The Consolidated Utility District is taking measures to limit social contacts while they still strive to offer an exceptional level of customer service every day.
The Consolidated Utility District reports the water supply is safe, and the usage of chlorine plays a vital role in that effort.
From Consolidated Utility District: "With regard to COVID-19, the Centers for Disease Control have noted that chlorine (used by our plant daily) is effective in eliminating the virus through the disinfection process for drinking water supplies. Additionally, the World Health Organization and the Environmental Protection Agency have indicated that COVID-19 has not been discovered in drinking water supplies."
Consolidated Utility Lobby Hours: "At present, we're not closing our lobby to customers. Our customer service representatives are stationed behind glass windows, which provide a useful physical divider."
