Here's an update on the Thursday night (2/9/2012) serious head-on crash in Eagleville. Tennessee Highway Patrol Trooper Matthew Pennington reports that a witness says they saw a pickup truck move into the on-coming lane as it traveled northward on highway 41-A near the intersection of highway 99. The witness told the trooper they were traveling in that lane, but were able to avoid a collision. However, in horror, they could see the pickup slam into an SUV, just moments later.

60-year old Stanley Harris was driving the 1995 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck. 48-year old Janet Kilpatrick was a passenger. Neither of these Chapel Hill residents were wearing safety belts, and both were taken by LifeFlight helicopter to the Vanderbilt Trauma Center. On Saturday (2-11-2012), a spokesperson at Vanderbilt says they are in stable condition.

The driver of the 2009 Chevrolet Tahoe SUV was 39-year old Linette Womble of Shelbyville. Her 12-year old son, Womble, was also in the vehicle. In addition, Lindsey McLean, Bell Buckle resident and 7-year old son, Reece McLean, were also injured. Everyone in the Tahoe were wearing safety belts, and were the Rutherford County Emergency Medical Services transported them to Middle Tennessee Medical Center here in Murfreesboro.

Highway Patrol spokesperson Dalya Qualls tells WGNS News that alcohol is believed to have been a factor in this head-on crash, and charges are pending in this case. The 911 call was received by the Rutherford County Sheriffs Office at 8:55 Thursday night.
