Feb 11, 2012 at 10:56 am by Bryan Barrett

The Smyrna-Rutherford County Airport now has more than 3,377 solar panels that are located on 6-acres. On a sunny day each produce 295 watts of power. Reportedly, the one-megawatt facility will generate enough energy to power approximately 50 homes for a year. This is a partnership between the airport and Soltas Smyrna, LLC.

The Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon cutting as this high-tech installation was brought on-line.
