(MURFREESBORO) Shortly after 7:00 o'clock Easter Sunday night (4/12/2020) storms swept across downtown and knocked the power off on both sides of South Church Street from Broad to I-24.
Murfreesboro Electric was pelted with calls from clients reporting that their power was off. The station returned to the air in less than an hour, amazingly quick work for such a major outage.
Murfreesboro Electric's Amy Byers told WGNS, "There were outages all over town, and our crews continued to make repairs and restore power into the evening."
The WGNS' radio tower site was impacted by the outage and the station was off the air while Murfreesboro Electric feverishly worked to return power to customers.
