Rutherford Arts Alliance Meets VIA ZOON

Apr 13, 2020 at 03:20 pm by Bryan Barrett

(MURFREESBORO) COVID-19 is forcing important meetings to be streamed so that participants can avoid crowds. A very important Rutherford Arts Alliance meeting will be held over ZOOM's at 3:00 o'clock Tuesday (4/14/2020) afternoon.

The guest speaker is MTSU Write Director Dr. Jennifer Kates. She will talk about this community of writers that offers one-on-one mentoring for writers at home, to move them toward publishable manuscripts.

She will also guide RAA members through a writing prompt that will illustrate the restorative nature of writing, particularly in times of stress.

In the last half of the hour, the meeting will allow participants to share arts-related announcements.

RA Plans

This is the group that is working to gain followers for the arts and to ultimately create a facility suitable for all performing arts, as well as gallery space and museum.

Part of the plans call for a 35-acre Middle Tennessee Arts and Performance Center that hopefully will be near the interstate. Initial architectural renderings show the local center to be larger than TPAC in Nashville.

The facility will have two indoor performance theaters. One is a 3,500 seat auditorium as well as an adjacent 1,500 seat facility. The auditoriums will also be used by schools as their place for high school graduations.

In addition, there will be a massive outdoor amphitheater along with an art gallery and museum.
