(La VERGNE TN) On Saturday (4/18/2020) evening La Vergne police received the description of a vehicle and a report that the driver was possibly intoxicated.

Officers spotted a car matching the description and pulled it over. While attempting to get that person out for a sobriety test, he decided to flee.

That's when the pursuit began. It ended in neighboring Smyrna when 31-year old Roosevelt Robinson crashed into another motorist. Fortunately, there were no injuries.

Robinson was taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault (X2), felony evading, leaving the scene of an accident, failure to give immediate notice of an accident, open container, simple possession of schedule VI drugs, resisting arrest, and DUI.

He has prior history of felony evading and aggravated assault against a first responder.

Roosevelt Robinson was booked at the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center with his bond totaling $24,000.
