(SMYRNA TN) A man parked outside Rodeway Inn on Plaza Drive in Smyrna was shot in his leg early Friday (4/24/2020) morning. The incident occurred about a half-hour into the new day.

Smyrna Police explained that the injured male told them that he had been visiting someone at the motel. He was sitting in his car, when a white colored Nissan Maxima pulled-up to the office and two black males entered.

One of the men stepped out of the office and reportedly came over to the man sitting in the parked vehicle. He got in the passenger side and asked the man if he could give him change for a $100 bill. As the man was counting money from his backpack, the intruder demanded that he hand-over the backpack. When he didn't comply, the male was shot in the leg.

As soon as the unknown male left the car, the victim wanted to get away as quickly as possible, so he fled to at a Summer Hill Lane home in La Vergne and called police. La Vergne Police responded, but when information was gathered--the case was turned-over to Smyrna Police.

It is under investigation at this time.
