A very large turtle was found in Murfreesboro and reports indicate the turtle weighed between 40 and 50 pounds.

The turtle, nicknamed "Tank the Tortoise" was found on May 16, 2020 by Officer Brendan Myers who responded to Overall Street in reference to a loose animal. Once at the address, he found a 40-50 lb. tortoise that was about to walk into the roadway.

The tortoise was transported to the Wilderness Station at Barfield Park. Staff took the animal in and found it an appropriate refuge.
