Man Faces Five Counts of Rape

Five rape charges were filed against a Clarksville man accused of having sexual relations with a 14-year-old autistic girl after he allegedly picked her up outside of her school on Oct. 28, in Rutherford County. Suspect William Gilbert Barnett Jr., age 36, was indicted on five counts of rape, solicited especially aggravated sexual exploitation, five counts of aggravated statutory rape, solicited sexual exploitation of a minor and contributing to delinquency of a minor.

Detective Sgt. Mickey McCullough with the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Department said Barnett picked up the girl when she got off the school bus on  Oct. 28. Barnett then allegedly raped her in his truck and returned her to her bus stop after school. Barnett allegedly communicated with the girl by texting. Barnett allegedly instructed the girl by text about meeting outside the school in Oct.
