(MURFREESBORO) The Murfreesboro Electric merger into Middle Tennessee Electric will take place when the papers are signed. Tentative start date could be July 1, 2020. If that happens, your final Murfreesboro electric statement will be for a full month that will end in mid-July.

While studying the merger plans, TVA wanted to make certain the rates would remain stable. In doing that, regional power provider noted that rates for both Murfreesboro Electric and Middle Tennessee Electric were not only comparable, but about 25 per cent lower than others throughout the region.
A study that developed out of the merger showed that both Murfreesboro and Middle Tennessee Electric had rates that were around 25 per cent lower than others in the region.

She also noted that former Murfreesboro Electric customers, become owners of Middle Tennessee Electric, since it is a cooperative. That allows each electric customer to vote on leadership, as well as projects, rates and more.
