(MURFREESBORO) Police warn residents about a SCAM attempted on a local resident. A person claims to be calling from the Federal Social Security Board, and that there is an outstanding warrant for the person's arrest.

The caller told the victim that they needed to verify their Social Security number.

The scammer began asking more questions and then asked for banking information.

The victim didn't disclose any more information and did the right thing and hung up the phone. The resident then reported the scam attempt to the Murfreesboro Police Department.

Remember the Social Security Administration will not contact you asking for personal and banking information.
