(SMYRNA, TN) Around 2:10PM Sunday (6/21/2020) afternoon lightning strike sparked a residential structure fire in the 300 block of Ella Street in Smyrna.

C-Shift Smyrna Fire Department personnel noted that the rear exterior of the structure was ablaze. Firefighters attacked and extinguished the fire. The structure was unoccupied at the time.

Chief Bill Culbertson said, "Personnel did an excellent job of containing the fire and mitigating property damage. We are grateful for the passerby that noticed the smoke and called 911; as a result, the damage was contained to the outside of the structure."
