Murfreesboro Police Department's Directed Patrol is cracking down on neighborhood crime, and it knocks an MTSU football player off the team. 22-year old Preston Bailey was charged with selling drugs from his off-campus apartment.

Officers say that Bailey admitted to using his MTSU scholarship money to set-up and help fund the illegal drug operation.

Bailey was a member of the Blue Raider football program from 2009 through 2011 after transferring from the University of Tennessee. Bailey redshirted in 2009, started 12 games in 2010, and played in seven games this past season.

COMMENT FROM HEAD COACH RICK STOCKSTILL

“This is extremely disappointing and in no way represents the values we instill within our football program."

“Although Preston (Bailey) has not been a member of our program since December, it is still upsetting to learn of this situation. As I tell our team on a daily basis, every choice you make has consequences. If you make good choices, you will get good results. And if you make bad choices, then you will have bad results."

“Unfortunately, based upon these charges, it appears Preston made a poor decision and will have to suffer the consequences of his actions. He will no longer receive his medical scholarship from Middle Tennessee."
