In the game heard on WGNS, Oakland's Ellen Riggins and Monica Barrett each scored 14-points in the Lady Patriot's 60-29 win over Lincoln County last (Friday) night in the first round of Region 4-Triple-A play. Elsewhere in Rutherford County, Riverdale whipped Shelbyville 76-16, Lawrence County beat Smyrna 66-30 and Franklin County edged Blackman 38-34. In Region 5-A, the Middle Tennessee Chrisian girls edged Nashville Christian 45-44 to move to the semifinals.

Coming up tonight (Saturday), boys region tournament action. In Region 4-Triple-A and on WGNS, Blackman hosts Columbia...Siegel at Lawrence County...Smyrna at Tullahoma...and Lincoln County at La Vergne. In Region 5-A, Middle Tennessee Christian boys will host East Robertson. Winners will advance to the semifinals on Tuesday.

Tonight’s boys winners in 4-AAA play Tuesday in the semifinals. It will be in Shelbyville, UNLESS District 7-AAA teams sweep. In that event, the tournament semifinals and finals will be played at Blackman.

Region 5-A Girls Semifinals at East Robertson on Monday:
Moore County vs. Houston County at 6, followed by MTCS vs. McEwen at 7:30.
