The Riverdale Lady Warriors made a step in the right direction in a quest for a third straight state tournament appearance, leaving no question in their 70-24 thumping of Franklin County in the Region 4-Triple-A semifinals last (Monday) night. They jumped on the Rebelettes 29-to-1 by the end of the first quarter. Tyisha Petty led the way with 17 points. Riverdale will face Lawrence County in the region championship game Thursday night and will play a sectional game Saturday.

Lawrence County elminated Oakland, defeating the Lady Pats 53-47. Despite a great shooting first half, 67-percent from the field for Oakland, the second half they shot only 32-percent. They end the season at 26-and-7 and have only one senior on the squad.

The MTCS girls are headed back to the sectional round, with a 54-49 win over McEwen. Julia Howard led the Lady Cougars with 14 points. They'll play district rival Moore County in the Region 5-A title game Thursday night.

On WGNS tonight (Tuesday), the La Vergne boys will play Tullahoma at 6 and the Blackman/Siegel boys will face off at 7:30. The winners advance to the region finals and a sectional berth, which will be played next Monday night. Bryan Barrett and Jon Dinkins will have the live play-by-play. They'll also keep tabs on the MTCS boys, who take on White House-Heritage in the Region 5-A semifinals.
