With 8-seconds to go and trailing by two, Blackman's Darius Thompson stole a La Vergne inbound pass, scored and was fouled. He hit the free throw that put the Blaze up 43-42, the final in the game. It gave the Blaze their first ever Region 4-Triple-A boys championship and they'll host Bradley Central in a sectional game on Monday night. La Vergne will travel to Ooltewah. Thompson finished the game with 17 points, Alec McMiller had 11. Cayman Dial had 18 for the Wolverines.

The MTCS boys ran into a hot McEwen team in the Region 5-A game. A third quarter barrage of threes doomed the Cougars, who lost 65-48. They still have a chance to get to the boys state tournament for the first time in school history. They will travel to Perry County on Monday night.

On WGNS, Saturday night, catch the Riverdale girls quest for a third state tournament appearance in as many years as they host Cumberland County. Pregame coverage on State Farm Prep Basketball begins at 6:45 with a 7pm tipoff. Then Monday night, Blackman will host Bradley Central. It will be live on WGNS, unless the MTSU men are playing in the Sun Belt quarterfinals. If so, we will have the prep game on, in its entirety, after the Blue Raider contest.
