BBB Warning: False Ad Claims Free TV

Mar 11, 2012 at 10:27 pm by Bryan Barrett

What looks like a legitimate newspaper article appearing in the March 8, 2012 Tennessean, is really a full page advertisement by the same company that introduced so-called "breakthrough products" such as the Heat Surge Amish Fireplace Heater, & Arctic Pro Air Conditioner.

Many consumers in Middle TN are contacting BBB wanting to know if the advertised new invention, Clear-Cast, will deliver salvation from high cable and satellite TV bills forever and let you watch TV for Free.

BBB says not quite…the published ‘report’ is actually a paid advertisement designed to look like a new story. The product, Clear-Cast is effectively a variation on the traditional indoor UHF bow tie antenna sold at retail stores such as Radio Shack for as little as $2.

Consumers also express confusion with the company’s advertised statement “ 953 crystal clear over the air digital TV shows FREE with no monthly bills”.

BBB advises consumer that the key word in this confusing ad is “SHOWS” which should not be confused with CHANNELS.

Bottom Line for consumers…an antenna is an antenna and the best way for any antenna to work better than another is with its location. A higher antenna will work better than a lower positioned antenna.

The touted breakthrough, revolutionary development in television engineering Clear-Cast antenna is just like any other BASIC television antenna consumers would purchase to grab over the air channels…ONLY at a much higher price.
