Bridgestone’s La Vergne plant has donated $9,000.00 through the Bridgestone Americas Trust Fund to the La Vergne Rescue Unit for the purchase of a battery unit Hurst Cutter.
The cutter, also known as the “Jaws of Life Cutter,” will be used to assist rescue members in extricating victims from vehicles after accidents.
Bridgestone La Vergne Plant Manager Bruce Johnson said, “We were very excited to help when made aware our La Vergne Rescue Unit was in need of this piece of equipment. Safety should always be the top priority on our highways. When unfortunate incidents do happen, this tool will enable our dedicated Rescue members to act swiftly in providing the necessary assistance for members of our community. This and other worthwhile community projects are made possible with donations from the Bridgestone Americas Trust Fund.
La Vergne Rescue Unit Director Dana Blair said the squad is “very appreciative of Bridgestone’s continued efforts within the community to ensure that citizens enjoy a high quality of life. Bridgestone has always been a big supporter of the La Vergne Rescue Unit and a valuable asset to the local community as well as Rutherford County.”
Blair, who works in security at the La Vergne plant, said that Bridgestone is a “fantastic employer and contributor to all. They continuously work toward the betterment of the plant and their employees, knowing that employees and their safety are what make the plant so successful.”
