The Murfreesboro Art League is hosting an event titled “A Taste of Art” on Friday, May 11 from 7-9 pm as part of Murfreesboro’s Bicentennial art month.  Your $10 (or more) donation will go towards children’s art programs in Rutherford County.  The Murfreesboro Art League Gallery is located in the back of Cannonsburgh Historic Village at 312 Front St.  Tickets will be available at the door.

Over 100 pieces of art will be on display for your viewing pleasure.  The Smooth Jazz sounds of Rev. Ernest Newsom will be heard as you sip wine and nibble on goodies provided by caterer Katie Plummer.  A silent auction will also be provided.

The purpose of the Murfreesboro Art League is to spread the love of art in Middle Tennessee by hosting a gallery, having exhibitions throughout the city, and teaching classes.  Our adult classes are the first three Mondays of each month from 7-9pm.   We accept a wide range of artistic abilities.

The art gallery is open on Saturdays from 10-4 and Sundays from 1-4 from the Spring until the Fall.  These regular viewing days are FREE and open to the public.

Children’s art camp is offered in the summer to students entering 4th -9th grades.  This year, the camp will be held on July 16-20.  An additional camp will be at the Sam Davis Home in Smyrna.  Subjects taught will be perspective, composition, color theory, and abstracts through the use of sketching, watercolor and acrylics.
