Churches continue to be a hot target for thieves in Middle Tennessee. Last month, we learned of two church burglaries in Rutherford County. Now, there have been church burglaries reported in nearby Coffee County and the reports could all be tied together. The most recent break-in occurred at Prairie Plains Baptist Church in Coffee County. According to a report by Deputy Daryl Welch, church pastor Jimmy Parting stated that he went to the church last Saturday and found a back door open. The thieves, according to the deputy’s report, stood on the pews to remove an overhead projector, which was valued at $500. Sheriff’s investigator Chad Partin is investigating the incident.
This marks the 7th church building to be hit in Coffee and Rutherford Counties in recent weeks.
