Here's more news that the economy is improving: Tennessee's unemployment rate for April was 7.8 per cent. That down from March's 7.9. This is not just a Volunteer State trend. Dropping jobless figures were recorded in two-thirds of the states.
The national unemployment rate was 8.1 per cent in April. However, 22 states reported less than 7 per cent of the workforce without jobs.
Here in Tennessee, the jobless figures showed the ninth consecutive monthly decline. North Dakota showed the lowest unemployment with only 3 per cent of the workforce without jobs. On the other end of the spectrum, Arizona had the highest number of unemployed workers with 11.7 per cent.
