This coming weekend is the final chance local audiences will have to see Murfreesboro Center for the Arts' production of "The Color Purple". The play takes place in rural Georgia beginning in 1909 and continuing until 1949. It shows the struggles of women, and particularly those of African descent.

Dr. Gloria Bonner told WGNS, "We've enjoyed sold out performances each time, and many theatre goers have returned a second and third time."

The production is alive with music that keeps you moving, while at times the struggles faced by the women brings tears--but always hope shines through the darkness.

"The Color Purple" is sponsored by Murfreesboro's two Rotary Clubs, and tickets for this moving musical can be reserved by phoning the Murfreesboro Center for the Arts at 615-904-ARTS (2787). The theatre is at 110 West College Street, at the corner of North Church.
