A Field Is Where The Old Hospital Once Stood

May 24, 2012 at 01:10 pm by Bryan Barrett

It's been over two and a half years since Middle Tennessee Medical Center moved into the new hospital on Medical Center Parkway. The owners made a huge investment in maintaining the old facility in an effort to locate a buyer. Unfortunately, that did not occur and the decision was made to raze the entire structure. That massive job has been completed and grass was sewn where the structure once stood.

The newer buildings that once were the home of the oncology department and out patient surgery, as well as a multi-level parking facility, were saved from the wrecking ball. It's not known how the total Bell Street Center and covered parking will be used for the longterm. However, at this time a walk-in emergency clinic is located in a section of the massive building on Bell Street.
