Director of Schools-Elect Don Odom has named Jeannie Nicholson the principal of Smyrna Middle School.

Nicholson currently serves as an assistant principal at Eagleville School, which serves grades K-12. In addition, Nicholson is presently completing her doctoral of education dissertation at Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville.

“I am pleased Ms. Jeannie Nicholson has accepted an appointment as the Smyrna Middle School principal,” Odom said. “Ms. Nicholson brings seven years of administrative experience that encompasses grades K-12. She also has experience as a middle school teacher including magnet school and gifted and talented student programs. Since her dissertation is a research on parent involvement, she will be an active proponent for student and parent involvement at Smyrna Middle School.”

In addition to Eagleville, Nicholson has served as an assistant principal at Kittrell Elementary School and Rockvale Middle School. She previously taught at Rockvale Elementary School, at East Literature Magnet School in Nashville and with the Killeen Independent School District in Killeen, Texas.

“I consider it an honor and privilege for the opportunity to become part of the Smyrna Middle family,” Nicholson said. “I look forward to building a partnership with the staff, establishing relationships with parents and the school community, and most importantly, supporting student learning.

Nicholson succeeds longtime principal Dr. Linda Kennedy, who passed away earlier this year after a long battle with cancer.
