Local nonprofit Special Kids announced Tuesday that blogger and Wall Street Journal best-selling author Jon Acuff will present the keynote address at the 13th Annual Special Kids Friendraiser Banquet on Thursday, July 19, at World Outreach Church in Murfreesboro.
Acuff is a member of the Dave Ramsey Speakers Group and previous contributor for CNN.com. The Nashville blogger has a following of over 2 million readers who track his musings on his blog Stuff Christians Like. Acuff has since taken his thoughts on the subject and compiled a book by the same name. After teaming up with Dave Ramsey, Acuff authored Gazelles, Baby Steps and 37 Other Things Dave Ramsey Taught Me About Debt as well as recent best-seller Quitter.
“Special Kids is delighted to have Jon share with our guests at this year’s banquet,” said Ginger Warf, Special Kids Director of Marketing. “We believe that he will be nothing short of hilarious and engaging as he sets the tone for the evening and the real reason why everyone comes together- the kids.”
The 13th annual event is an opportunity for individuals and businesses in the community to learn about and invest in the life-changing work of Special Kids for children with special needs. The banquet will highlight the milestones reached by the Murfreesboro organization over the past 14 years as well as the challenges facing the nonprofit.
The Friendraiser Banquet will commence on Thursday, July 19, with a silent auction at 5:30 p.m. and dinner provided by Demos’ Restaurant at 6 p.m. Tables of eight are available for $800, and individual tickets are $100.
