LaVergne to Hold 4th of July Event

The Parks and Recreation Department will host a 4th of July celebration called “Patriotic Picnic in the Park” on Wednesday, July 4 beginning at 5:00 p.m. until dark.

The free event, held atVeteransMemorial ParkonFloyd Mayfield DriveoffMurfreesboro Road, will feature a bounce house for children and other games. Additionally vendors will be on-hand to sell hamburgers, hotdogs, chips, drinks, shaved ice, and ice cream.

This year, enjoy a free concert with music by Missy Garnett and the Six Pack Pretty.  Missy has opened for such artists as Keith Urban, Diamond Rio, Trace Adkins, The Buckingham's, The Kentucky Headhunter's, Cyndi Thompson, Gary Alien, Aaron Tippin, and Trace Adkins.

The fireworks display will start at dusk.

“We are pleased to expand the Patriotic Picnic in the Park this year to include music,” said AldermanTom Broeker, chairman of the Parks & Recreation Advisory Committee.  “We want our families, friends, and neighbors to be able to celebrate this important American holiday in the comfort of our own town.  We hope our citizens bring a blanket and lawn chairs, listen or sing along to some great music, and watch the spectacular professional fireworks show in the spirit of friendship and community.”
