Director of Schools-Elect Don Odom has named Sumatra Drayton the principal of Holloway High School.

Drayton currently serves as an assistant principal at Christiana Middle School, a position she has held for the past four years. She will replace current principal Jason Bridgeman, who was recently named the principal of Siegel High School.

“I am pleased Sumatra Drayton has accepted the Holloway High School principal’s position,” Odom said. “Mrs. Drayton has administrative experience and teaching experience in middle, high school and the university level.  She understands how academic rigor coupled with encouragement can result in student success.”

Drayton started her career as a respiratory therapist before pursing an additional degree. She then worked for 13 years at Tennessee State University as director of Clinical Education in the Cardio Pulmonary Department. She came to Rutherford County as a health science teacher at LaVergne High School for nine years and was one of the first graduation coaches for Rutherford County Schools before moving into administration.

“I am very excited and honored to be given this opportunity. Holloway High has a rich history and legacy of success,” Drayton said. “I look forward to continuing the important work of graduating productive citizens.”

Odom will begin as Director of Schools on July 1 following the retirement of current Director Harry Gill Jr.
